Women Making Moves: Making the Most of Your Business, Life, and Health in 2024.

Hello DBBs!

Can you believe that we are already ending January and leaping in to February? I don't know about you, but it felt like January flew by, when normally, January is the longest month EVER.

Our family hit the ground running pretty hard in the beginning of the month and it doesn't look like things will be slowing down any time soon. I have a high school senior who is very involved in the performing arts department, as well as taking three AP classes. (Pray for her).

My son made the high school freshman volleyball team so practices and matches will be happening really soon. It is also ski season in our household, so lots of trips to the mountain will be happening. In fact, next week, I will be on a girls trip to the mountains. It will be short, but I can't freaking wait! My first girls ski trip! Holla! (Did I just age myself and reveal that I am a millenial? I make no apologies).

But let's dive in to today's topic which is about you, ladies, making big moves in 2024 in your life, business, money and health. I think women rock and I am so freaking excited to come alongside y'all and see what you do this year.

Now, your specific goals for this year may not include this entire list and that is okay. This is pretty general as I am unable to specifically and personally address each and every one of you and your goals (unless we had coffee or tea or dinner together with lots of conversation and ideas flowing. Then I am all yours)!

I want you to continue feeling excited and motivated for this year and all the possiblities that await you. Believe me, they are endless. The only thing stopping you, is YOU!

Let's get lazer focused on what it is we want to achieve in the next 12 months.

For the gal in her business girly era:

  1. Start writing out your to-do list and your intentions. Building a business, whether it is online or a franchise or a brick and mortar, this is going to take some of your time and your investment. If you have a job that you are working at while you build, even more of a reason to get organized and be incredibly intentional. You can't afford to just go through the motions or give half-hearted effort. You will need to step it up.

  2. With that being said, I don't believe you need to fall victim to hustle culture and sacrifice your health and your family. You can build a business while working full time, being present with your family, be the badass wife and mama you are. Will there be some challenging moments as you try to build your dream? Of course. But don't let the challenges keep you from doing what needs to be done. You will see the fruit of your labor.

  3. This isn't a race. You set the timeline. This means that if you want to have your business replace your current full time income, state WHEN you want this to happen. Planning is so helpful. If you are married, talk with your partner about your plans. Dream together. Talk finances and budget together. Which leads me to this next point....

  4. Talk. Money. With. Your. Partner. Both of you should know exactly how much money you can comfortably live on together for the good of you as a couple and for your family. Talk retirement. Talk investments and talk budgets. While you are building your business, and if you aren't working, how can your partner help? What does your partner need from you? If you are working and buidling your business, what areas can your partner pick up if you can't.

If you are a single gal in her business building era, this will still apply to you. Dream, plan, organize, set priorities and talk money with someone you trust who can help you stay on track toward your goals.

For the gal in her lifestyle/wellness era:

  1. Not gonna lie. I am finding myself here right now, and I am here for it. I recently reached out to a girlfriend who has not had a sip of wine or any alcoholic beverages in over 100 days, and she gave me some amazing tips. I love a good glass of wine or a margarita to take the edge off of all the stress I have been experiencing lately. However, she turned me on to a podcast episode recently that talked about the effects of alcohol on our brains and neurological systems (among other things), and I was like "whoa". The episode is long (close to 2 hours), but incredibly informative!

  2. Plan, plan, plan. It seems, ladies, we are not going to get away from planning. I think it is the ADHD in me, but I love lists, calendars, planners, programs because it helps me stay organized and focused on what it is that I need to do. I can't do chaos. I used to think I could just fly by the seat of my pants, but no. I am not that girl. So, what does this look like? Plan what days you are going to work out (and when). Plan meals. If you have a family, you don't have to eat cardboard while the rest of your family eats delicious foods that you made. No. You can create yummy, family friendly and nutritionally dense foods that will be good for everyone's outsides and insides. I have a gazillion recipes saved on my Instagram, and anytime I try one of those recipes, they end up being a hit.

  3. Set a goal. I am getting married in September of this year. My goal is to look so freaking amazing inside and out. Probably tmi (we are all friends here, right?) but I want to look freaking amazing naked on my honeymoon with my man. I am also 42 years old. I want to feel and look better than I did when I was in my twenties. So, the goal is to do strength training at minimum 3x a week, with at least 60 minutes of cardio each week.

  4. Self care. More girls trips. Take advantage of the moments by myself when the kids are with their dad/mom and when my fiance is away (doing things that bring him joy. Your partner should practice self-care too). Take up a new hobby. Rediscover an old one. Massages. Cook delicious and healthy meals for just you. Read. Write. Go for a walk (check out Hot Girl Walk. I love it!).

  5. Don't forget about your mental and emotional health. Meditation, therapy, and plenty of sleep should be part of your life.

I could go on as this clearly is not an exhaustive list. Plus, I know so many of you want healthier relationships with self and others; want to build a strong financial foundation and future; Want to champion causes you believe in and live generously.

Don't worry. I have plenty planned for you. You just have to stay tuned.

For now, take these gems as little jumpstarts for your heart. Are you ready to make moves this year and make some dreams come true? I hope so. I am rooting for all of you.
