Leaving Behind in 2023: Outdated Habits and Mindsets

Can you believe it is almost January 1st?!

I feel like 2023 flew by, but I am sure for some of you, this year has been a bit heavier than previous. Every one of us had our own challenges and experiences and aha moments throught the year, and I am sure there are some things you may wish you could let go of or do over again.

Since we can't redo the past (only learn from it), here are some things that we are going to leave behind in 2023.

  1. The weight of other's opinions and expectations of us: Family and friends mean well. We may have people in our lives who care deeply for us and want the best for us. So, that often means they will give advice or caution us against anything too rash, extreme, wild, crazy according to their own beliefs. This isn't to say that they are bad, or even that they are incorrect. Also, this isn't a call to forgo getting good counsel. We all could use a second or third opinion, especially for those really big decisions we may need to make. However, their opinions and expectations cannot be something we carry. Take heed, listen, and then make the decision that is best for you and your own life. They are not you. So don't carry their weight. You got your own!

  2. Staying in spaces that no longer fit: It is okay to change your mind. It is okay to leave. It is okay to grow. It is okay to no longer want the opportunities that you may have wanted in the past. If it doesn't fit, let it go. Don't stress over staying in something because of what others may think or because you are afraid of disappointing them. It is inevitable. Don't stay miserable in order to make other people happy.

  3. Asking permission to start: No more of this. If you want to do something, just do it. What is on your heart right now? Are you ready to go? Then, go! Make a plan, create some steps for you to take action, keep reevaluating and keep growing. Bet on yourself. Go for it. You can do it!

As we close out 2023, I have some final thoughts. This was definitely the year of women. Taylor Swift. Beyonce. Barbie. I don't know about you, but I was incredibly empowered and motivated watching women step into spaces that are most often taken up by men, and just killing it. Honestly, what an exciting time to be a woman.

I am here for it.

At Dream BuildHer, my goal is to help women realize their potential and build the life they have always dreamed of. This space is for every woman, but it is especially for those of you who have an idea in their heart and they want to give it wings. This space is also for women who want to make money, and not feel bad for doing so.

So what I am bringing in to 2024 is the mission to keep encouraging women to use their gifts, take up space, make money, prepare their financial futures for themselves and their loved ones.

And LOVE THEIR LIFE! Yes, I am yelling!

Rooting you on.

Your Dream BuildHer Bestie,

Tiffany Rhea
