10 Awesome Side Gigs for Women: These Jobs Will Actually Make You Money!

Side Gigs are booming and I am here for it. Many of us are looking for fun, creative ways to bring in supplemental income and thankfully, there are a ton to choose from. In fact, side gigs are becoming an ever increasing way for those with full time jobs to use their gifts and areas of passion and expertise to make a lot of money.

We know that time is money. I also know that for the majority of us, time is not something that we have a ton of. So I realize that adding one more thing to our already full plates is a huge ask.

However, I want to ask you personally: What could you do with an extra $500-$2000 a month? How would that benefit your family? What pain points in your life are you experiencing that an extra windfall of cashflow could help alleviate? Making more money doesn't mean all your problems will be gone, but having money creates opportunity. You will have options.

Girl, give yourself options.

I have provided 10 different options for you to look through. Your next step: Decide how much time, money, and effort you want to invest in your side gig.

Without further ado, in no particular order, here are some awesome side gigs that can actually make you money!

  1. Freelance Services: Check out Upwork, Fiverr, or Freelancer.com. You can also go out and obtain clients of your own. With freelancing, there are a wide variety of industries and job categories. Skies the limit, girl!

  2. Bookkeeping: If you are good at math and business, this can be an awesome option for you to create an online or offline service for your clients. Every business has to have record keeping and they have a budget. Start locally and expand from there! You will more than likely need software, so check out Quickbooks or Freshbooks for an easy option to get started.

  3. Copywriting: You know when you see ads in the store, online, in your favorite magazine/advertisements...somebody wrote that. That is copy. Everyone needs copy. While copywriting isn't new, it has recently grown in popularity and it really can be done anywhere (even if you currently have a 9-5). There are a ton of courses online, as well as communities that will help you get started. You can also learn how to start your copywriting career here.

  4. Blogging: This is one of my favorites, obviously. I love to write about all the things that I love and I love to educate and empower people. Bloggers can make money via affiliates and advertisements, and while it can take a bit to build substantial income, it is definitely a great side gig. Wordpress.org and Wix.com are great spaces for your blog home.

  5. Virtual Assistant: I had a friend that was a virtual assistant for awhile, and she made pretty decent income while also being at home with her two young boys. Plus, one of her children required medical care, and her husband was a pastor, so she knew she needed a job that was flexible, but provided the extra income she was needing for her family. You can learn more here.

  6. Tutoring: If you love to teach, and you are passionate about a particular subject, consider tutoring on the side. Great for those who already teach for a living, and would like to help students individually so that their student can master a subject, and build their confidence. Plus, you can advertise in your own city, or you can tutor online.

  7. Resell Clothes and Goods: Story time! When I was really hard up for extra cash, I decided to rummage through my closet for clothes that were still in beautiful condition, but I either didn't wear or were no longer my style. I styled them, took photos, and uploaded them to Poshmark. I made $600 that first month. I even started my own boutique to sell my clothes and clothes I had purchased for the purpose of reselling them. If you love fashion like I do, or perhaps you need to clean out your closet, this is a great way to make extra cash, and it helps the environment!

  8. Create a digital course: Digital courses are excellent ways to teach people how to do something, and a way for people to learn a new skill within the comfort of their own home and on their own time. Whatever it is you that you enjoy talking about or teaching on, you can create a course on it!

  9. Sell Digital/Physical products on Etsy: Calling all creatives! Etsy has been around for many years, but it is still a great way to sell the products you create in order to make some money. Plus, this is a gig that can easily turn in to a full time gig (as are a lot of the gigs listed above).

  10. Self-publish a book you wrote: If you have written a book, or you have a great idea for a book, you should consider self-publishing. You can earn income from the royalties of the book and there are a few sites where you can upload your e-book to be downloaded once purchased. A popular resource is Amazon's kdp Self Publishing. If you have created journals and planners and calenders, you could consider selling those as well.

Hopefully, this list is a helpful starting off point for you as you do your research, discover what would work best for you, and start your side gig. Remember, we want to give ourselves options in life. You got this!

Which side gig listed appealed the most to you? Currently have one? Please share what you do with the rest of us!

Rooting you on!
